WeMoney Review Australia: Free vs Pro, Costs and Privacy
WeMoney brings accounts, spending and credit scores into one view. Start with the free version, check how your accounts connect, and pay for Pro only if its extra features solve a problem you actually have.
Our take: WeMoney is worth considering when your money is spread across several institutions. Its free features may be enough for a regular spending check. The decision comes down to account coverage, how comfortable you are with the connection method, and whether you need desktop access or Pro’s extra controls.
WeMoney Free vs Pro: features and costs
The free version includes connected accounts, spending tracking, budgets, goals, monthly credit-score updates and the community. These are the features to try first if you want a clearer view of where your money goes.
| Your task | Where to start |
|---|---|
| Bring supported accounts into one view | Free connected accounts |
| Review spending and set a budget | Free spending and budget features |
| Monitor your credit scores monthly | Free credit-score updates |
| Work through transactions on a desktop | Pro desktop accounts and transactions |
| Create unlimited custom categories | Pro |
| Receive daily Equifax credit-fraud alerts | Pro |
| Remove in-app ads | Pro |
WeMoney’s current help guidance lists Pro at A$9.99 per month or A$99 per year, with a seven-day trial. Check the price and renewal details displayed when you subscribe. Its product page lists projected net worth as coming in 2027; do not subscribe expecting that feature to be available today.
Is the annual plan worth choosing immediately?
Twelve monthly payments at A$9.99 total A$119.88. An A$99 annual plan is A$20.88 less over a full year. That is useful only if you keep using Pro: ten monthly payments cost A$99.90, so the annual price becomes cheaper during the tenth month. Try the features before committing to a year.
Choose one concrete reason to upgrade. For example, if you regularly review several accounts on a computer, desktop access may justify the expense. If you only want a monthly balance and credit-score check, use the free version first. A paid app still needs regular attention to deliver value.

Account connections: Open Banking and privacy
WeMoney’s account-connection guidance distinguishes Open Banking and Standard Connection. Some institutions offer a choice. That makes the old claim that every account connects through Open Banking without bank credentials too broad.
Search for your institution in the app and read the actual consent screen. Confirm which account types are included, what data is requested, how long consent lasts and how you can withdraw access. Check the support list before choosing an app for an account that matters to your budget.
WeMoney describes its service as read-only: it displays account information and cannot move money through connected accounts. Its security guidance identifies CDR connections and, for selected institutions, Mastercard or Yodlee. Read-only access still shares financial data; review the connection provider and privacy terms rather than treating it as no access at all.
Balances need checking before you rely on them
A useful dashboard is a starting point for a review, not a substitute for your bank’s records. Check the latest sync time, pending transactions, transfers between your own accounts and any missing balances. Transfers can otherwise look like income or spending, and a stale balance can make a budget look healthier than it is.
A practical first-week checklist
Use this short audit to decide whether WeMoney adds something to your existing bank apps:
- List your accounts. Include everyday accounts, savings, cards and debts. Mark anything the app cannot connect.
- Start with one supported account. Read the consent screen and check the imported balance against the institution’s own app.
- Review a full month of transactions. Correct categories, check refunds and avoid counting your own transfers as new income.
- Review recurring costs. Compare a subscription’s actual use with its renewal price. Cancel with the provider if you decide you no longer need it; a dashboard entry does not itself cancel a service.
- Check the credit-score section. WeMoney’s current help page identifies Equifax and Experian. Investigate unexpected information rather than assuming an app can improve your score automatically.
- Evaluate one Pro feature. If you start a trial, note its end date and subscription renewal settings. Confirm the cancellation route for your device.
- Decide whether to continue. Keep the free version if it helps, upgrade for a feature you will use, or disconnect accounts if the app does not fit.
This checklist is also useful for any money dashboard. Its value comes from finding an action you can take, such as correcting a category or investigating a forgotten renewal, rather than repeatedly checking a net-worth number.
What to know about WeMoney referral rewards
WeMoney’s public Associate page advertises a A$5 reward for both parties after a referred account connects. Its current member referral terms instead say the amount displayed in the app applies, and describe eligibility, onboarding and payment checks. Member and commercial arrangements may differ. A fixed amount or instant payment should not be assumed from a blog link.
The current member terms require an eligible new Australian resident aged 18 or over to complete onboarding; they also restrict public member referrals, including referrals to people the referrer does not know personally. An approved Associate arrangement needs to be distinguished from an ordinary member invitation.
If you use our WeMoney referral link, MoneyHackHQ may receive a reward if the referral is accepted. Read the current referral terms and the amount shown in the app before relying on a reward. You can also download directly from WeMoney.
When another approach may be simpler
- One bank, a straightforward budget: first check the spending tools already included in your bank’s app.
- A small number of accounts: a spreadsheet avoids an additional account-data connection, but you need to keep it current.
- Several institutions: compare supported accounts, connection methods, categories and pricing between dashboards. Do not choose solely on a sign-up reward.
- You need a new banking setup: a dashboard does not replace an account. See our Australian bank-account comparison.
Frequently asked questions
Does WeMoney improve my credit score?
The app lets you monitor credit information. Installing it does not guarantee a higher score, a loan approval or a better interest rate. Use the information to investigate errors and understand changes.
Does every connected institution use Open Banking?
No blanket assumption is appropriate. WeMoney’s help guidance describes Open Banking and Standard Connection options. Check the method offered for your institution.
Can I use the main features without paying?
Yes. WeMoney lists core account, spending, budget and monthly credit-score features on its free plan. Pro adds features such as desktop access, unlimited custom categories and daily fraud alerts.
Is the referral reward the main reason to join?
No. First decide whether the app and its data connections suit you. Verify any offered reward in the app and current terms; do not treat it as guaranteed income.
