ShopBack Cashback Not Tracking? What to Check and How to Claim
If your purchase hasn’t appeared in ShopBack, check the retailer’s tracking window, confirm you bought through ShopBack and gather your order details. Once that window has passed, submit a missing cashback report. A purchase marked Pending has already tracked; it needs a different check.
This guide covers online purchases through ShopBack Australia. In-store offers, gift card problems and bank-linked bonuses can have separate rules.
First, identify what’s actually missing
Look at your cashback history before changing anything. No transaction, a pending transaction and a rejected transaction aren’t the same problem.
| What you see | What it means | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| No transaction | Your purchase hasn’t appeared. | Check the tracking window, then report it if overdue. |
| Pending | The retailer hasn’t validated the cashback yet. | Check the expected confirmation date and any outstanding conditions. |
| Rejected | The purchase was disqualified. | Read the rejection reason and appeal if it doesn’t match your order. |
| Amount looks too low | The eligible spend or rate may differ from your calculation. | Recalculate using the offer’s exclusions, category and caps. |
You can compare the account labels with ShopBack’s cashback status guide. A pending balance isn’t money you can withdraw yet.
Check the tracking window and the claim deadline separately
Tracking is the first appearance of the transaction. Confirmation is the retailer approving it. Those dates can be weeks or months apart, particularly for travel bookings.
Open the retailer’s page inside ShopBack and check its tracking period. Don’t assume every store reports a purchase immediately. If the transaction is already pending, check its confirmation timeframe instead of treating it as untracked.
There’s also a deadline for reporting missing cashback. It varies by retailer, so don’t wait indefinitely after the tracking period ends. Check the reporting-window guidance and the options shown in your account.
Save a reminder with the retailer, purchase date and order number. That gives you something useful to act on when the tracking window ends.
Reconstruct the purchase before submitting a report
Your confirmation email proves you bought something. The cashback offer also needs an eligible purchase made through the correct shopping route. Work through these questions:
- Did you start through ShopBack? Opening ShopBack after paying doesn’t attach cashback to an earlier purchase.
- Did you click another offer or advertising link? Another referral link can interfere with the tracked route.
- Was the purchase eligible? Check product categories, customer eligibility and the terms for the offer you used.
- Was the coupon allowed? A code that works at checkout isn’t automatically eligible for cashback.
- Was the order cancelled, returned or exchanged? That can remove eligibility.
Then check whether you switched device, browser or shopping app during checkout, or used a blocker that could interrupt tracking. The tracking checklist explains those potential problems.
Be accurate about what happened. Hiding a coupon code or order change makes it harder to investigate the right transaction.
How to report missing ShopBack cashback
Once the retailer’s tracking window has passed, open My Cashback in the app and look for the missing-cashback option. You can also use the Support section. On the website, open Cashback Overview and choose Report a Missing Cashback. Menu wording can change.
Select the retailer or transaction, enter your purchase details and attach proof of purchase. Have these ready:
- Order number or booking reference
- Purchase date and amount, including the currency
- Any coupon code you used
- Confirmation email, invoice or receipt
- Details of any return, cancellation or booking amendment
Keep the submission confirmation and follow the case through your support requests. An investigation can take up to 120 days; filing the report doesn’t guarantee approval. The missing cashback instructions show the app and website routes.
A clear support message
Include the retailer, order number, purchase date, total and currency. Explain that the advertised tracking period has passed, state whether you used a coupon or changed the order, and attach the receipt. If you saved the offer terms at purchase, include those too.
If it tracked at the wrong amount
Calculate cashback from the eligible purchase amount, using the rate for your exact offer. Shipping, taxes, excluded products or a cashback cap can change the result.
For an illustrative calculation, suppose an offer pays 5% on eligible products and excludes delivery. If your order contains $180 of eligible products plus $20 delivery, the expected cashback is $180 × 0.05 = $9. Calculating 5% of the $200 checkout total would give $10, but that uses the wrong base.
This is an example, not a current ShopBack offer. Check your purchase’s terms before deciding the amount is wrong. If the calculation still doesn’t match, provide both your expected amount and the recorded amount in your enquiry.
If your cashback was rejected
Open the rejected transaction and read the reason. Check it against your receipt and the offer conditions. For example, an order marked as returned needs a different explanation from a purchase made with an excluded code.
If the reason is incorrect, use the appeal option for that transaction and explain the discrepancy. Attach evidence that addresses the reason directly. ShopBack’s appeal instructions show where to find the rejection details.
Don’t cancel a booking or repeat a purchase just to try to recover cashback. Compare the actual cost and cancellation terms first.
For hotel bookings, check the stay date
A hotel booking may track before your trip but remain pending until after the stay. Keep the original booking reference and any amended confirmations. Cancellations, no-shows and changes can affect eligibility.
Use the retailer’s confirmation timeframe rather than the date you paid alone. For accommodation-specific issues, see the hotel cashback guidance.
Make the next purchase easier to follow
Choose the product first, check the retailer’s cashback terms, then complete the eligible ShopBack route on the same device and platform. Save the offer and order confirmation together. Those records are more useful than trying to remember a promotion weeks later.
